About Us

AmeriCulture, Inc. has been producing the industry’s highest performance tilapia fingerlings since 1995. We are one of America’s largest tilapia hatcheries supplying fingerlings to many of the country’s premier industrial-scale farms. Our cutting edge production facilities are heated using pure geothermal water, allowing for an abundant supply of top quality fingerlings year-round.

AmeriCulture produces two strains of all male Nile tilapia, the fastest growing of the tilapia species. Both strains have been intensively selected for rapid growth and high fillet yield in recirculating systems, the type of system most used by our clients. We offer a strain that is specifically selected to excel in the slightly cooler waters of aquaponic systems, in addition to a mixed color hybrid to satisfy the tastes of discriminating live markets. With either strain, growers will enjoy unparalleled performance and precision size uniformity.

Most importantly, we understand aquaculture. AmeriCulture’s founders hold doctoral degrees in aquaculture, virology, and veterinary medicine, and are expert in aquaponics and commercial tilapia production. Our broodstock are grown to maturity in our own commercial scale recirculating aquaculture system.

Disease Free

In order to succeed in tilapia aquaculture, it is imperative that growers import high performance fingerlings that are free of significant tilapia pathogens. In other words, the hatchery supplier must be able to provide assurance of disease-free status. AmeriCulture is currently the only domestic hatchery producing high performance fingerlings that can provide this assurance.

Our enclosed facilities, located in remote southwest New Mexico distant from natural bodies of water or other aquaculture facilities, protect our fish from the diseases that can infect aquaculture operations. Producing our fish inside geothermally heated greenhouses in pure well water from a desert aquifer and following strict procedures for biosecurity prevent the introduction of specific tilapia pathogens. Our fish undergo regular examinations by accredited aquatic diagnostic laboratories. Additionally, the disease free status of numerous devoted customers attests to the health of our facility.

Supporting Local Growers

Besides supplying fingerlings to many industrial-scale tilapia production facilities, we are also the largest supplier of tilapia fingerlings to domestic “backyard” growers, local small aquaculture businesses, aquaponic producers, and academic institutions. Small growers are able to access the same high performance genetics demanded by industrial growers, genetics that are unattainable from small boutique hatcheries. Our clientele is our lifeblood, and our business has been built by our loyal customer base.
