Shipping
and Availability
AmeriCulture is
currently the largest domestic Nile Tilapia fingerling
producer. Our geothermally-heated, indoor facilities
allow for consistent annual production with very little
seasonal variation in supply. This insures that the
fingerlings available in the winter are just as high
quality as the ones available in the summer. Our
fingerlings are typically pre-sold 2-4 weeks in advance.
How are
they Shipped?
Fingerlings are shipped
right to your front door via UPS Red Label. Larger orders are sent
via airfreight to the nearest airport. They are
picked up from our farm every day, Monday through
Thursday, at 3:00pm and typically arrive at any US
destination by noon the following day.
How are
they Packaged?
 |
We make every effort to
ensure that the fingerlings you purchase have as
pleasant a trip as possible. First, 425 grams of
fingerlings are added to each of the bags. Each
bag contains 1.5 gallons of water that has been
pH-balanced and treated with an ammonia binder.
The average size of fingerlings shipped ranges
from .5 to .7 grams (1-1.5 inches). A typical box
will contain 1,200 to 1,700 fingerlings,
depending upon the size requested. Larger fish
are also available for special purposes such as
educational systems. |
| Second, the bags are
filled with pure oxygen and sealed with a metal
clip. |
 |
 |
Third, a
styrofoam lid is placed on top so as to control
the temperature in their environment for the
duration of the trip. |
| And finally, the boxes
are taped shut and sent on their way. |
